Post Marathon update:
Job done as they say, completed in 4 hours and 55 mins the 5,421 person to cross the line. It was warmer conditions than I had trained in but made for a wonderful day with so many spectators cheering us on (estimated figure of 80,000 I hear)
With donations received and more on their way, the contribution from Why Bother and the extra gift aid the total raised so far for the Martlets hospice sits at approx £1500.00. A huge thank you to everyone who has donated, the generosity everyone has shown is amazing.

Simon and Clare Hempenstall both lost close relatives to cancer earlier this year so Simon and his brother Adam www.justgiving.com/adamhempenstall will be running the Brighton marathon in aid of St Martlets hospice in April 2010. In addition to his sponsorship efforts via www.justgiving.com Why Bother Lifestyle Ltd www.why-bother.co.uk will donate 5% of all turnover generated from new clients who sign up from February – through to race day on April 18th 2010.
Most of us will have known someone close who has died as a result of cancer, hospice facilities such like the St Martlets cannot survive without donations as on average, adult charitable hospices in England receive just 32% of their costs from the government.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
