Story
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
St Lukes Hospice is committed to the provision of specialist palliative care - free of charge - to people with advanced, progressive illnesses which addresses their physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs thus enhancing their quality of life. The annual operating costs are currently estimated at £3.5million and they receive less than 30% of financial support from local health authorities so rely on voluntary contributions and events such as the annual sponsored walk to make up the major source of their funding.
St Luke's is a very special charity. It cares for the people around us, in the community in which we and our families grew up. Our parents, our friends, people we went to school with - St Luke's has been there for our families, for people we know in times of trouble. Without your support it would be impossible for the nurses who care for our loved ones to do their job. Shiv's mum and her family benefited from the fabulous service that St Lukes offer and are endlessly grateful for the support the charity gave them throughout that time.
So we are getting involved this year by covering long distances on foot to raise money. Siobhan and Jo are "doing the double" - donning our trainers for The London Marathon on 25th April, followed by getting together with our friends Maria, Martin and David to complete our Highlands adventure at the end of May, a 77 mile walk over 4 days from Fort William to Inverness.
We're walking (and running) together, to give something back to a charity that has been a great support, and touched our lives personally. And we need your help.
So dig deep and support us through the 400 miles we will be collectively covering on foot for this awe inspiring charity!
Thanks for your support (and whatever you were thinking of pledging....go on... add another fiver!!)
Lots of love
Shiv, Jo, Maria, Martin and David (The Famous Five!)
