As I am turning 30 next year, I thought the time was right to take on a new challenge. Having completed half marathons and triathlons in the past, I have now decided to take on 5 marathons in one year, in the form of 4 half and 3 full marathons:

• Newport half marathon (5th March)
• Brighton marathon (9th April)
• Great Welsh half marathon (7th May)
• Edinburgh marathon (28th May)
• Cardiff half marathon (1st October)
• Llanelli half marathon (25th February)
• Barcelona marathon (11th March)

To keep me motivated through what will no doubt be a gruelling 12 months, I have chosen 3 charities that are very close to my heart to support.

1/4 of people suffer from mental illness at any one time, and the work that Mind do to give advice and support to people suffering from mental health problems is vital. The campaigning that they do to improve services and raise awareness and understanding of mental health issues is critical in reminding people that mental health is as important as physical health, and to help remove the stigma associated with mental illness.
