Story

<div><strong>Ok those of you who know me, know I like to be quite spontaneous and quite often come out with random ideas, well this one is the madest one yet!</strong></div> <div><strong>&nbsp;</strong></div> <div><strong>&nbsp;</strong></div> <div><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>Climbing 6000 metres to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro from 13 Oct - 23 Oct (7 days trekking)!!!</strong></span></span></div> <div><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>&nbsp;</strong></span></span></div> <div><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>&nbsp;</strong></span></span></div> <div><strong><span style="color: #000000;">(yes you heard right, the Essex girl is yet again ditching the tan and fake eyelashes and digging out trekking boots and a rucksack)!!!</span></strong></div> <div><strong><span style="color: #000000;">&nbsp;</span></strong></div> <div><span style="color: #000000;">&nbsp;</span></div> <div><span style="color: #000000;">But I am not alone in my madness, my lovely friend <strong>Karen </strong><span style="font-size: 10pt; color: blue; font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;"><a href="http://www.justgiving.com/scaredycatjackson"><span style="color: #800080;">www.justgiving.com/scaredycatjackson</span></a>&nbsp;</span>&nbsp;is climbing (assisting) me with this challenge - yes she is also mad or maybe I asked her when she was under the influence of alcohol! </span><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; color: blue; font-family: &quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;">&nbsp;</span></span></div> <div><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; color: blue; font-family: &quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;">&nbsp;</span></span></div> <div><span style="color: #000000;">&nbsp;</span></div> <div><span style="color: #000000;">We both decided that although this is a personal challenge for us and an extreme one at that, we would like to make it all the more important and raise money for </span></div> <div><span style="color: #000000;">&nbsp;</span><strong>AICR (Association for International Cancer Research).</strong></div> <div><strong>&nbsp;</strong></div> <div><span style="color: #000000;">&nbsp;</span></div> <div><span style="color: #000000;">In the developed world cancer will affect one in three people at some stage of their life - we all know a family member or close friend who this has affected. Some have been lucky like <strong>Karen</strong> and <strong>my grandad</strong> because it was caught in time and treated but there are those who we will miss everyday for the rest of lives as they were not so lucky.</span></div> <div><span style="color: #000000;">&nbsp;</span></div> <div><span style="color: #000000;">&nbsp;</span></div> <div><span style="color: #000000;">We picked <strong>AICR</strong> as they fund research into a range of cancers around the world and is funded entirely by charitable donations (receiving no money from Government or other public bodies). Their reliance on individual donations ensures that your donation no matter how big or small, will help to contribute to the research into conquering cancer. It is amazing how much can be achieved with only a small amount of money, <strong>so please sponsor me today - every little helps.</strong></span></div> <div><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>&nbsp;</strong></span></div> <div><span style="color: #000000;">Sophie x</span></div> <div><span style="color: #000000;">&nbsp;</span></div> <div><span style="color: #000000;"> <div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: &quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;;">&nbsp;</span></div> </span></div> <div><span style="color: #ff00ff;"><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;" lang="EN-US"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"><span style="color: #000000; font-family: Arial; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #000000;">Examples of how the money is spent:</span></span></span> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="color: #000000; font-family: Arial; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-size: small;">&pound;15 - allows a scientist to measure the activity of a cancer gene</span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="color: #000000; font-family: Arial; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-size: small;">&pound;25 - allows a scientist to grow cancer cells in the laboratory for a week </span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="color: #000000; font-family: Arial; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-size: small;">&pound;50 - allows a scientist to measure how fast cancer cells spread </span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="color: #000000; font-family: Arial; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-size: small;">&pound;100 - allows a scientist to use a high-powered microscope for a day </span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="color: #000000; font-family: Arial; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-size: small;">&pound;200 - allows a scientist to analyse the cells in a tumour sample </span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #000000;">&pound;300 - allows a scientist to determine the sequence of a cancer gene</span></span></span></p> </span></span></span></span></div>
