LOCKHART TAKES GOLD.........in a New World Record time
I wish!!!
Today started off with a leisurely 5.30am alarm call and after a high fibre breakfast (not) it was time to head off to Victoria Park and collect my bike (coaching colleague Mark Smith very kindly looked after it overnight).
The bike was loaded onto the truck and me onto the bus and on our way to Glasgow by 6.45am.
Made my way to the start line at Glasgow Green (near Paradise I'm told, or to some Celtic Park) and crossed the start line at 8.45am. This was it, only 51 miles to go.
Meandered through the streets of Glasgow's East End then onto Drumpelier Park, Coatbridge, Avonbridge, Plains, Linlithgow, Winchburgh, Kirkliston, Cramond Brig and finally ending up at Victoria Park once more. A challenging road course with quite a few climbs (Lance Armstrong would have been proud of me) and I chose not to stop at any of the feeder stations. I had a record to establish after all. If truth be told, I thought if I did stop I wouldn't start again! Finished in 3 hours 55 minutes which was quicker than I expected. Quite pleased with that. Just need the rest of the week to recuparate.
Thank you to all who have supported me in this, your comments and funding are very much appreciated.
