Story

All done.  Marcus and Ian from the team made it the full 425 miles with an average of 6 and half hours in the saddle per day and an average speed of 17mph.  For the full evidence see the maps in the links below;

I managed to do my bit for the first 160 (mostly into a headwind) and the last 100 miles (mercifully with a tailwind) - thankfully all accident free!

Thanks for all the donations.

Cheers

Iain

Background;

I have a new cycling fundraising challenge, following my aborted Tour of Ireland Cycle Challenge last year - for those that don't know (or those who want to have another laugh at my expense) visit www.justgiving.com/Sheepy!

Between 12th and 15th May 2010, I'm helping friend/colleague/associate/bloke-off-the-street Ian Braid and his team complete a cycle from Glasgow to London in just 4 days to raise funds for SportsAid.  I'll be doing 250 of the 400 miles as a "domestique" to the core "SportsAid Wheelers" who will be doing the full mileage.

SportsAid (formerly Sports Aid Foundation) has been raising money for rising stars of the sports world since the 1970s and my Mum (sadly no longer with us) worked at their offices in Loughborough University for many years, around the time a certain Mr Coe was proving his talent. Since the introduction of lottery funding to financially support talented athletes SportsAid now focuses its support for youngsters aged between 12 and 18.

I appreciate this is nothing like running 43 marathons in 51 days, so not worthy of big bucks - but any contributions, however small, are gratefully received!

Just so you know, donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thanks!

Iain
