Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Steve Gardner and the purpose of this page is to raise money for my nephew Lewis through the Tree of Hope charity. More about Lewis is written below so please take the time to read about this amazing kid.

Throughout the next 12 months I will as much as is financially possible be undertaking as many endurance runs as I can fit in. This will culminate in a marathon or two during the summer of 2014. So far events entered are:

-         The Suffering Race Nov 2013

-         10 mile multi-terrain New Forest run Oct 2013

-         Half Marathon Santa’s Run Dec 2013 (Fancy dress)

          The Nut Challenge Mar 2014

-         Tough Mudder Apr 2014

  Milton Keynes Marathon May 2014

 jj        Total Warrior Aug 2014

These runs will be the more challenging due to the fact that after being told my left knee was pretty damaged and wouldn't get better, I have completely altered my training, this year I wanted to get as big as I could so have trained purely with weights, which has worked so doing these runs I will be drastically heavier and the aim is to not lose the weight during the training for the runs.

If you can think of any more horrible runs you would like me to do and that would encourage you to sponsor me then please feel free to offer suggestions, even better pay the race entry fees and I will run.

I hope that hearing about Lewis and the events I am doing pursude you to make a donation knowing that the money you donate will go to directly improve the quality of this amazing kids life.

As promised more about Lewis:

Lewis is 5yrs old and has been diagnosed with moderately severe Cerebral Palsy - Dystonic/spastic, PVL, Severe gastric problems, epilepsy, Gastro Oesophaegel Reflux Disease, Gross Development Delay, Paroxsymal Dystonic Events, Early Myopia, Pancreatic Agenesis. It took 2 years to diagnose him and he spends a lot of time in hospital due to the complications that he has. He is fed via a Gastro-Jejunostomy PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastro - jejunostomy) which feeds him directly into his small bowel.

He is such a smiler, full of love and laughter, yet cannot live life the way we would all like him to.

We are raising money to fund essential equipment that will help improve Lewis' life and provide him with a chance of a brighter future.

We are looking to purchase items that will give him the chance to develop/be comfortable and have the brightest possible outlook.

We hope to purchase communication aids that use touch/switch activation so that he has a chance to make decisions.

Some of the things we would love to get over the coming months/years can be found on Lewis' websitewww.lewisfund.co.uk or on Facebook Lewis Fund - Loving Every Wonderful Inspirational Step!

A few items are a P'Pod - a seating system, Recordable Switches, Touch Screen Communicators, saturation monitor for overnight monitoring, quiet suction machine, video monitor for when night carers are in.

Please please please help us to give Lewis the life he deserves!!
