Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 18th June I am setting off with Paul Brooks to cycle the route that Bonnie Prince Charlie took from Glenfinnan, Scotland (somewhere the other side of Ben Nevis) to Swarkestone, Derbyshire (The Crewe & Harpur to be exact) a journey of 586 miles arriving in time for lunch on 26th June - subject to not getting lost, falling off or sampling too much of the local brews on route!
Despite having previously completed 330 and 450 mile charity bike rides, there is no doubt this is the toughest challenge and I can think of no better cause to raise funds for than the Baby Unit of Derby Royal Hospital for my friends John & Becky Walters, who devastatingly lost their son James and have been raising money in his name. James, along with twin brother Charlie, was born 14 weeks premature and spent his short life being cared for in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or Baby Unit, of the Derby Royal Hospital. For more information on the families fund-raising visit Becky's site www.justgiving.com/Memory-of-James-Walters
Young Charlie continues to grow stronger and it is hoped he may make a visit to the pub on 26th June to make sure that I have completed the trip and to collect money raised in his brothers name.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
I appreciate that these are difficult times and wouldn't ask if it were not such a worthy cause, but please dig as deep as you can and donate now, whilst I finish off my training with two weeks alcohol free....another good reason to be sponsored for the trip.
Thanks,
Stephen
