Event: Tough Guy 2010, on 31 January 2010

Story

Hi, I am pleased to say i survived what was a different but great day yesterday completing tough guy and i have now fully thawed out and have the use of my toes again. Woke up with cuts and bruises on shins, hips, shoulders etc and a great sense of achievement.

l would like to say a huge thankyou to everyone who has sponsored me, as i was stood waiting to jump off a 12ft long wooden plank 4 metres high into a dirty, cold and icy lake i did think about the money i had raised and it did give me an added incentive to take the plunge.

Below is a link to you tube from ITN online, i am in it at 1min 10 passing behind the ginger guy being interviewed

This year I have decided to do some of the things that I have been putting off for too long and the first of these is Tough Guy on 31st January 2010.

Tough Guy is described as ‘The Worlds safest, most dangerous taste of mental and physical pain, fear and endurance.’ In reality its an 8 mile cross country run followed by 26 obstacles, ponds and rivers including - The Firey Holes - A series of ditches filled with mud, water and raging fires!,  The Tiger - 2 massive 40ft A-frames that you must clamber up with the 'Sting in the Tail' a series of electric fences charged with twice the power required to stun a bull between them and The Underwater Tunnels - submerge your head in the lake of chest deep water with a series of acclimatisation dunks as your route is blocked by telegraph poles.

Of course I signed up for this before the last 4 weeks of sub zero temperatures so to try and offset the hyperthermia I have a good chance of catching I would like to do some good and raise some money for St Ann’s Hospice.

Founded nearly forty years ago, St Ann’s Hospice has grown to become a recognised centre of excellence for specialist palliative care for people over the age of eighteen, St Ann’s Hospice helps those people who have progressive and life-threatening illnesses – as well as supporting their carers and families. They looked after 2 of my grandparents in their final days as well as other family members so I would like to support them.

I have paid the £175 entry myself so all donations that people give will go direct to the charity. I have set a target of £100 so if everyone who visits leaves £2 I will be on my way to achieving this target. Thanks :-)
