Ehlers-Danlos Support UK improves quality of life for people living with the Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS). We work across the UK to support, advise and inform those living with the condition and the medical professionals working with them.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Three friends and I have accepted the challenge of cycling from Calais to Cannes. All of us are highly trained athletes! See picture 1 to view how we see ourselves. See picture 2 for a glimpse of a closer reality. Our respective Care Homes have given us day passes (while disclaiming any legal liability for any medical consequences) and we set off on the 9 July blissfully ignorant of the pain to come, but confident of reaching Cannes sometime during 2011. Our aim is to reach our destination by 19 July.

To encourage me in this endeavour, I will be raising money for the Ehlers Danlos Support Group charity. Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS) is a rare inherited disorder affecting an individual's connective tissues-such as the skin, muscles and ligaments- which provides support to many parts of the body. The symptoms of EDS often include chronic pain, immobility, loose unstable joints and fragile skin. There is no cure, but the Ehlers Danlos Support Group provides individuals suffering from EDS with much needed information and support eg on pain management.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So I would appreciate it if you could consider donating to this cause.

Many thanks

Steven
