Story
Hi thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As the page says i have set myself the challenge of climbing Mera Peak in the Khumba region of Nepal, this is to a height of 21,246 feet !!!!. to give some perspective Ben Nevis , UKs highest mountain, is 4408 feet !. There is also a 13 day hard trek to get to Mera Peak base camp !! So thats hard work even before the really hard work starts !!!!!
This is going to be a strenous and physically demanding project to complete, taking me to areas i have never been before. Although it is going to be the challenge of my life so far there is little requirement of technical climbing, they have said that participants do have to have some knowledge of walking in crampons , use of ice axes and have a basic understanding of rope work and the wearing of harnesses ....... there is even an absail off of the summit ....eeekkkk!. i hope they give some training !!!!!!
The reason i have chosen to help the " STARS APPEAL " is because my son Ethan spent the first week or so of his life in the Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit at Salisbury District Hospital and this is my way of giving something back for the wonderful care and treatment he received.
So please donate anything you can to this worthy charity. This is a privately funded expedition and all monies raised go straight to the " STARS APPEAL ". Any amount will be gratefully received so if all you have is a £1 then please dig deep and get that card out and click donate.
Many thanks in advance Stoney ........ i will try to update photos of what i am letting myself in for !!!
