Story

UPDATE We so did it!! Wahooo!

I am very pleased to inform you that Maria, Michael & I Nikki completed the WALK100.  Mark reached the 90km mark but sadly due to injuries he had to stop! What an amazing achievement to reach 90km! Well done Mark truly you were amazing with the map reading & got us round the counties so well!

The WALK100 was a seriously tough adventure just saying the words 'walking 100km' doesn't sound that tough but let me tell you, it so is! The sunshine (hotter here than in Ibiza this particular weekend) the terrain, the hills, the fields, the stiles, the nettles, the forests (at night) the blisters, ohhhh those blisters made this quite a challenging challenge but I am ever so proud I did it & don't regret one moment of it! The whole team are so pleased!

The Blind Veterans staff, volunteers, helpers at the stations were so amazing & so kind & supportive THANK YOU to them all.

The blisters, aching legs sun stroke will be a distant memory soon but what we have achieved for our dear Blind Veterans will stay with us/me for ever!

The best feeling was reaching the FINISH oh my what an incredible feeling gaining my medal & meeting some amazing blind & partially sighted veterans made it emotional, incredible & a priceless experience!

So may I say a HUE THANK YOU on behalf of the #StrideOnTime team & me Nikki for all your supportive comments & donations Truly thank you so so much!  Lots of love & thanks Nikki xx Maria, Michael & Mark xxx @NikkiSalsa twitter xxx

Welcome to our dedicated fundraising team #StrideOnTime Thank you for visiting we hope you will join us on our journey to the biggest challenge for me personally & no doubt for our other Striders too.

#StrideOnTime was born out of twitter friends, who have never met but are drawn together with a zest for helping support this most amazing charity The Blind veterans UK @BlindVeterans.  With a passion to succeed not only a huge physical  challenge but a mental one also. Walking 100k (64 miles) from London To Brighton in 24 hours (one hopes) :) day & night we will treck  across the souths most beautiful countryside, Downs & country roads/paths!

Training has been amazing, not only have I met some new walking buddies through the WALK100 members page but have enjoyed many training walks in the most amazing locations with some of the members too so have made some great new friends!

May the training continue to be fun if a tad tough at times but knowing this is for such a worthwhile cause my heart & sheer determination to succeed will get me through this along with my team mates & the atmosphere of the WALK100 also!!

Thank you for your support kind wishes Nikki Bailey x

Please meet our team:-

My name is Nikki (@Nikkisalsa twitter) I am a  44 year 'young' mama to Mia 8, Poppy 7 & wife to David.

After losing over 3 stone in weight in 2010 I have discovered a love for supporting charites, running, the gym, VIPR, positive thinking, inspiring others & tweeting :)

In 2012 I achieved 2 Brighton Half marathon's, 4 10k's & 2 5k's all for charities close to my heart! The Brighton Half inviting me to be their Ambassador for 2012/2013 was a very proud moment.

Last year I qualified as NVQ2 Fitness Gym Instructor & this year as a Life Mentor for Beatbullying.org.

I am so excited about this challenge I love that I am able to give something back to our dear veterans also supporting in memory of my late grandpa Charles Yonwin Cartwright who was in WW2 Bomb Disposal Unit.

Looking forward to getting to know my team members & us all feeling such pride & joy when we succeed on the 22nd June 2014.

Thank you for your support now & always!

Kind wishes Nikki xx

 Meet Mark:- (@CoramMark twitter)

Mark has been a hillwalker since becoming a scout and has done 1 long distance walk before. The route for this walk passes near his home but he won't be stopping.

A civil servant by day and amateur actor, he's spurred on to do things like this as a way to show his respect for all the armed forces.

Thank you for supporting Mark.

Meet Mike:- (@BoardsBeerBoobs twitter)

I'm Mike and I was introduced to Twitter by my daughter, which allowed me to stumble across like minded people who are up for a challenge like this one. I'm very out going and have a very supportive family who will help me through it, because although I think it will be very fun, I think it will also (as I said) will be very challenging. Amy, my eldest daughter, will be in charge of all my fundraising (@AmyTheFollower) I participate in many water sports such as surfing, canoeing and other water sport activities, and just generally anything that involves being outside! Training for this will include lots of long walks across the forest with my spaniel and I think this is going to be fun and hard and something to remember and look back on .

Thank you mike!

Meet Maria:- @twitter name to follow

My names Maria Sargent, also known as Moo ! I have 4 children between the ages of 3-8. I work as a sports coach and fitness instructor, my fitness business is hopefully going to be started up from January called Motivated Moovers!
The reason I wanted to enter into the 100k walk challenge is because it's for a great cause and my grandads Senger and Harrison both served in the war.. Fighting for there Britain... So I thought that I owed it to him them to give something back and make sure that there not forgotten!
This is also going to be a huge challenge physically and mentally! Training with Nikki Bailey who gently encouraged me to enter this worthy race and cause is going to be hard but fun and hopefully .. My fitness experience will help us get through this big challenge !
I am looking forward to training hard !
I hope to make my family/friends and my grandads watching down from heaven proud if Moo xx
