Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 6 September 2016 one of my colleagues told me that he'd registered Team Studor for the London to Brighton bike ride on 18 June 2017, and to have a think about whether I wanted to be part of the team. I duly had a think, spoke to my other colleagues, and we all decided that we were in it together and were prepared to give it a go!
I am not a cyclist, but have had a bike sitting dormant in the garage for many years. On 27 September 2015 I had major bowel surgery for the second time in my life, and it is important for me to improve my health and fitness so I can live a full life and enjoy every minute as my son grows up. If I can combine this with raising money for a worthwhile cause, so much the better!
I am already committed to a sea swim challenge in 2018 which I'm participating in to raise funds for a different charity (more on that another time), so this is well-timed to help get me in shape!
I am aiming to cycle the full 54 miles of the route, but if I am concerned nearer the time that this will be too much for me then I will join my colleagues somwhere later down the route. One thing I have learnt over the past 12 months is to be realistic in expectations and not push myself too much - that doesn't stop me aiming high though!
