Story
My name is Sue and I work as a cashier at Buxton Morrisons. On the 23rd September 2017 I will be shaving my head for Clic Sargent, Morrisons partnered charity. I have seen how even the smallest donations can make a big difference to families affected and I hope to raise funds to contribute to this cause. I get the choice to shave my hair but unfortunately others do not. I believe that the work Clic Sargent does is invaluable and any way of promoting this charity and raising awareness is a worthwhile cause, one I would gladly give my hair for!
Every day, ten children and young people in the UK receive the devastating news they have cancer. Treatment usually starts immediately, often miles away from home. It is frightening, gruelling and can last for up to three years.
Here’s how your donation large or small could make a real difference:
£4 could pay for one copy of a CLIC Sargent storybook, putting cancer into words and illustrations children can relate to.
£15 could pay for one hour of a CLIC Sargent Play Specialist’s time, so that they can help a child prepare for and cope with treatment, by using models, toys and photos.
£28 could pay for an hour of a CLIC Sargent Nurse’s time, so that they can coordinate clinical and non-clinical care for children with cancer, to maximise the amount of time they can safely spend at home.
£230 could pay for a family to stay in one of CLIC Sargent’s nine Homes from Home for a week, providing free self catering accommodation near to children’s cancer treatment centres, which are often miles from a family’s own home.
