Story

Hello and thank-you so much for taking the time to visit my ‘ just-giving’ page !

Last summer I made a foolish remark to a very fit friend that I, a total non-runner, had always admired anyone who has the stamina and determination to complete a marathon. Well, here I am –entrant number 24508 for the London Marathon on Sunday April 25 2010 ,  a novice at the tender age of 55! For the past few months I have been pounding the streets of Storrington , the benefit of which has been a huge  increase in my Iung size together with a small reduction in my jeans size. I am now into the final countdown- it has been far more demanding than I had ever anticipated but so rewarding and surprisingly loads of fun. I have even reluctantly accepted the fact that I will be dressed as a bumble bee at the start – though perhaps more likely to be rather waspish by the end!!

Having never done anything like this before , I have only 2 aims – to cross the finish line regardless of time  and to put all the pain and effort it takes  to some use by raising money for a worthwhile cause. That cause is Chestnut Tree House, a relatively small, local charity. This is their website address if you want to see more of the fabulous work they do :

I  realise that you are probably being asked by loads of people to support lots of different events but I will be so grateful for any donation,  no matter how small. Knowing that I have your support and not wanting to let you or  Chestnut Tree  House down on the day will definitely help me reach that finish line.

And don’t forget, if you are in London on the day or watch it on telly look out for number 24508  – one very red- faced sweaty bumble bee!

Much love

Sue x
