I work for an amazing organisation  Contact -the charity for families with disabled children and work directly with parent carers  working to improve services . Every day I am in awe of the love and dedication parents show their disabled children and how hard they have to battle for thing most other families take for granted in education, health, social opportunities and much much more. 

I am turning 50 on 6th July and would like to mark this occasion by remembering my lovely brother Bruce who became ill at 27 and died when he was just 32; and those who cared for him.Could I ask you to celebrate life and the incredible endurance of parent carers and families of disabled children by donating a fiver as a present to me on my 50th birthday?I would love this!

I know how lucky I am to be turning 50 and want to fundraise in solidarity with all the families out there who are not getting the support they need or the benefits they are entitled to.

For every £10 people give to Contact's benefits helpline Contact staff help families access £140  in benefits - money they are already entitled to but are not getting. The helpline also gives families support on all aspects of caring for and supporting a disabled child.
