Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In August 2020 we learnt overnigt that my uberfit cycling demon of a husband has Acute Myeloid Leukemia and that we were about to start the fight of our lives with a particularly aggressive blood cancer.

18 months later Gary died in the Intensive Care Unit of the Great Westerm Hospital

Whilst he was ill, my growing interest and ability in cycling became his passion too and it helped us to work together as a team on something other than his health and just surviving.

Our local hospital became the centre of our lives and gave us incredible support, somehow making the last few days of his life possible for us to reflect on with some positivity

I decided I would attempt to ride 530 miles in 5 days to mark what woould have been his 53rd Birthday on 2nd June. I will start in his home county of Suffolk. then head to Easy Jet where he worked in Luton. Then to Basingstoke where we lived for 12 years, on to Glastonbury which was a happy place for us. I will then come back to Wanborough where Gary and I lived for 20 years.

This ride is a tribute to him and his love of biking. If I can make some money for Great Western Hospital along the way then that will be a bonus
