Eight months after the birth of our son Louis, Braham and I have decided to run a 10k race for Cancer Research on 18th October. We will be raising money for Palliative Care East, a care centre that will be built on the grounds of the James Paget Hospital in Suffolk.
We’ve decided to run this race in memory of my Mum who passed away earlier this year, five weeks after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. Mum was fiercely independent and a Palliative Care Centre within her local hospital would have made a real difference to her life in her final weeks and hours, in terms of pain management, symptom relief, treatment and much needed support (not least reducing extremely long car journeys back and forth for radiotherapy treatment). If you’d like to find out more, visit the Palliative Care East website - http://www.palliative-care-east.org.uk/
Please support us in our quest to run and NOT WALK this race – please donate as much or as little as you would like. Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to the charity.
Palliative Care East supports the Louise Hamilton Centre at the James Paget University Hospital. The centre helps carers, patients, families and friends who find themselves affected by a life-limiting or progressive illness. We need to raise £150,000 a year to do this. Thank you for your help.
