Charity fundraisers from Brooks & Partners solicitors in Frimley will be taking part in a Skydiving event on Friday 19th September.
Nine members of staff and friends of Brooks & Partners solicitors will be completing the ultimate challenge in order to raise valuable funds for the local, Farnham-based charity Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice (PTH).
Vickie Lennard has so much to thank PTH for, as they provided invaluable palliative care for her husband Nigel, who tragically died of pancreatic cancer in July. Vickie will be joined by: Marketing Manager Susy Brooks - who lost her father a few years ago to the deadly disease – Emily Cox, who works in the Family department and from the Residential Conveyancing team Tom Ingleton, Licensed Conveyancer, and Robyn Brooks, Paralegal, as well as both of Vickie’s son’s girlfriends. The most recent new recruits include Private Client solicitor Nikki Miller-Hawes and Marian Atkinson who runs the accounts department and tragically and unexpectedly lost her husband David in July, just five days after Nigel passed away.
Vickie said: “It has been an extremely tough time during this past year, but Nigel’s final months were made so much more comfortable because of the wonderful care and support network offered by PTH”.
She added: “I was delighted when Susy, who is responsible for the firm’s marketing, and I discussed how we could support PTH and we agreed that a great way to raise funds would be to take part in the charity tandem skydive with the Silver Stars in September, near in Wiltshire“.
She went on to say: “I was even more overwhelmed when the team from Brooks & Partners agreed to join us. My son’s girlfriends Christine and Kirsty have also been brave enough to sign up for the event.”
Each member of the 9-strong team has to raise £450, which in total will be a staggering £4,050 for the charity. What better way to say thank you to PTH. And the latest update is that they have already smashed the target which is currently at just over £5,300, with many more donations to still come.
The firm’s owner and managing director, Michael Brooks said: “As both my wife and I lost our mothers and recently my young niece to Cancer, I as much as anyone appreciates how worthy this charity is for the invaluable support. All of us at Brooks & Partners are so proud of them for agreeing to take part and we will be supporting them all the way…..down!”
The event takes place on 19th September and some are starting to feel the pressure more than others. However, the Brooks Babes and Tom are all determined to see this through in order to smash the target fundraising and conquer their fears.
