After 2 years we are finally able to do the colour run again this year in memory of our beautiful Jacob and help Forget me not, raise some vital funds to continue the amazing work they do. It's 3 years ago since we lost Jacob and forget me not are still supporting us all now. Losing your baby is something you never get over and it effects us every day of our lives. Forget me not are always there if we need them. I honestly don't know what we would do without them. We would really appreciate your help in anyway you can Thank you Team Jacob! 

Our story:

At our 20 week scan we got the heartbreaking news that our baby’s heart had formed abnormally. We went for more in-depth heart scans at Leeds and it came apparent that our baby’s heart was very complex. But we never gave up hope and enjoyed the pregnancy. We were told by the consultant that it might be good for us to get extra support from a hospice. So after a bit of thought we got in touch with Forget me not. They supported us through the pregnancy making us feel more at ease with everything. The plan was to go to them for step down care, before going home from hospital after our baby had had their operation. 

Jacob was born on 19th April 2019, he was breathing on his own and doing absolutely amazing! We had so much hope. Then we got the news no parent wants to hear, we had an impossible decision to make. Jacobs heart was very poorly and operating would be extremely high risk. We rang Forget me not and they came to us straight away. We were both so glad we had their support. After lots of discussions with doctors, surgeons and Forget me not, we decided the best thing for Jacob was to bring him home and enjoy him for as long or little time we had with him. So on the 27th April Jacob came home. We didn’t know how long Jacob would survive so we made every minute count. We made lots of precious memories and just enjoyed being a family. Jacob passed away peacefully at home in his Mummy and Daddy’s arms on 9th May 2019. 

We got to spend 11 precious days at home with Jacob making memories and just being a family. We are forever thankful to Forget me not for their support and making this possible. The work they do is absolutely fantastic. They are still and will continue to support us through this very difficult time. 

We want to help them to continue their fantastic work and support other families through difficult times. They really do make a difference.
