We provide free conductive education to help children with cerebral palsy

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

A great deal of recognition and thanks? need to go to a film that I watched several years ago called "Without a Paddle" for inspiring me to do this trip. I could relate to the group of friends who wanted to go on one last adventure before they were too old. We are hoping to avoid any run-ins with the 'Deliverance' type natives that they run into (Although, I have heard that we may see these types once over the Pennines)

It may indeed be that we are ALREADY too old but As Cecile M Springer observed: "Above all challenge yourself. You may well surprise yourself at what strengths you have and what you can accomplish."

And that is why a group of us have decided to cycle the length of the Trans Pennine Trail and the width of the country from Southport to Hornsea to raise money for the Stick n Step charity.

The ride will see us taking on the terrors of the Woodhead Pass over the Pennines, the headwinds of the flat plains between Doncaster and Hull and even the glass strewn paths of Liverpool.

Riding will be mostly on disused rail lines, but there is also loose mud and rocks over the Pennines and then there is Wally's Steps near Aintree to negotiate.

Stick n Step is a brilliant charity that provides intensive support to help improve mobilitity, confidence, self-esteem and well-being in children affected by Cerebral Palsy and related conditions.

The Stick n Step centre is in Wallasey and children from North Wales, Merseyside, Cheshire and Greater Manchester attend it - they really do amazing work that helps children to realise their potential and gain independence.  Stick n Step has a weekly overhead of around £4,500 and is a parent led charity which relies solely on fund raising activities to survive.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

This may seem like a day trip out to some, but those that know us will know how hard we will have to work and train to complete it so please dig deep and donate.

Thanks
