Story

Recently I have been fascinated with the Himalayan Mountain range especially Mount Everest, the highest point on earth at just shy of 8850 Meters.  Knowing that it would be almost an impossible dream to make it to the summit, Everest Base Camp at 5364 meter high would be the closest I would get.

When I saw that local group Lakes Mountain Guides ran Trekking and Expeditions all over the world including Everest Base Camp, I knew it could be a great opportunity to fulfil a once in a lifetime experience.

What sealed the deal for me was that you could do it as part of a fundraising group for St Mary’s Hospice. We have seen first-hand the fantastic work the hospice charity does as my mother worked there previously as a Nurse and unfortunately other family members have had to visit for care.

I decided to sign up for the expedition and have pledged to raise £2500 for the Charity.  I will be paying for the Expedition, flights, and other costs myself so any money on this page will go directly to the Charity.  If you wish to sponsor me personally to assist with costs and equipment, please contact out with this page.

Once the team have made it to Kathmandu we will fly to Lulka airport to start the Trek where we will gain altitude from 2650m to 5545m to the Summit of summit of Kallar Pathar.  I have calculated it will be approximately 110km of trekking over 10 days which doesn’t include 6 hours additional walking on acclimatisation days also.

To prepare for this journey I plan to get fitter, stronger and lighter. I have just started Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to improve my fitness and strength and I will be weight training, mountain biking, Canoeing and most importantly hike the hills and mountains in the Lake District. These will include the top 4 highest mountains in England over 3000 feet;  Scafell pike, Scafell, Helvellyn and Skiddaw.  I will keep the page updated with any significant progress and other fundraising activities leading up to the expedition.

Thanks for reading and thanks very much for any donations.
