Event: 2010 Paris Marathon, on 11 April 2010

Story

Once I have finished updating this page, I suspect I won't be able to stand up from the PC, but it was worth it! I ran Paris Marathon in 4 hours 20 minutes and 33 seconds and did really well in my age category! Aside from dodgy organisation, the Paris marathon was brilliant - beautiful sights, parts of Paris I haven't been to before and of course two lovely parks/woods to run through. Although Eurosport declared that these were lonely and isolated spots with few people, actually they were bliss compared with the concrete and glass and detachment of people in Canary Wharf! Although the Embankment and Big Ben are incomparable, the L'Arc de Triomphe comes pretty close! I wonder what it feels like to finish in Central Park.....!

Thank you for your tremendous support in helping me reach my target, but please do continue to give if you haven't supported me yet and a huge thank you to everyone who has helped me reach my traget!

I can't quite believe that I am doing it again! Well, it is Paris, this time - my favourite city, the place where the current World Champions were crowned in October 2007(!), my favourite way to keep truly fit and, as my family remind me when I am grumpy, good for my soul!

I thought long and hard about who to run for this year - it has to be for young people. I am running to give talented, local West London girls the opportunity of an education at one of London's leading independent schools. The Godolphin and Latymer School Bursary Fund ensures that girls with the ability and the talent are able to realise their full piotential, by providing full fee bursaries (financial assistance) on entry each year. Godolphin and Latymer was a state school until 1977 when it went independent following changes to education in the UK. The legacy of the school is one of excellence, community and diversity. The Bursary Fund seeks to maintain this accessibility.

Although it is of course my job, as I have got to know the girls and the past pupils, our Old Dolphins, I have been inspired by their commitment and their support for The Bursary Fund. I hope you will be too. To find out more about the school and The Bursary Fund, please go to www.godolphinandlatymer.com.

So, as the last 3 weeks approach before the big day, please support me on this new adventure. Your support means a great deal to me - you were all so wonderful when I ran London in 2007 - you helped me raise nearly £ 4000, which was amazing! Thank you!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

I also hope that I am able to inspire my boys, not only through keeping fit but through the good that comes from it by running for charity. After all, the boys and Steve have been so patient when I have been grumpy when they drink my Lucozade Sport and eat my jelly beans; when I complain of my sore knees and above all, the time the training has taken from family life!

Thank you in advance to you all!
