We are two Registered Veterinary Nurses heading to Goa, India to join Mission Rabies on a 2 week vaccination drive of dogs against rabies 

We are fundraising for this fantastic charity as part of our volunteering experience, and can assure you any donations here goes directly to the charity and not to us as per justgiving! (We are funding this trip ourselves!) Rabies is a fatal disease, but it is 100% preventable, and the work that Mission Rabies has already done is groundbreaking. We will both be attempting odd fundraising efforts, and hope as many of you as possible will support us! 

WHAT THE MONEY YOU DONATE COULD DO - 

 50p teaches a child how to protect themselves from rabies
 £5 buys a rapid rabies test kit, which allows us to diagnose rabies within 10 minutes
 £15 vaccinates 10 dogs against rabies for a whole year
 £50 equips one team of animal handlers with catching nets to safely and humanely catch and vaccinate stray dogs
 £200 will staff our emergency rabies hotline for a month
 £1000 provides an entire vaccinating team with a vet, animal handlers and data collector for a month

**Mission Rabies is a charity which was founded as a project of Worldwide Veterinary Service in 2013 with one aim, eliminate dog bite transmitted rabies through a research driven One Health approach. Since 2015, Mission Rabies is a charity in its own right.

Over 99% of human rabies cases are caused by an infected dog bite. Once symptoms of the disease develop, it is almost always fatal.

Every year, millions of healthy dogs are inhumanely killed for fear of this deadly disease. However, this doesn't halt the spread of rabies, which causes the deaths of around 59,000 people a year – the majority of which are children under 15.

Mission Rabies is going to change that.

Science shows that the most effective long-term rabies control strategy is through vaccination of dogs in endemic areas. **
