We provide support services and work to reduce the number of baby deaths

Story

We at Tayside Sands are committed to making sure that our babys' deaths were not in vain.  We want to support National SANDS with their invaluable research into Why 17? babies die each day in the UK and we also want to support, comfort and make easier the early days after a stillbirth or neonatal death, by supporting the parents in the Tayside Area.  Last year we did our 17km walk which was very successful, Derrick ran the marathon and a group of friends climbed the Buchaille.  Over the course of 17 months, we plan to do more fundraising activities.

Here is a list of the events we plan to do:

1.  Derrick had his back waxed in July for SANDS.

2.  The group are doing a bag pack at Marks & Spencer in Broughty Ferry on Saturday 29th August. £530 was raised!  Many thanks to the people of Broughty Ferry!

3.  The walk - 17k from Camperdown Park to the Rail Bridge and back on Sunday 13th September.

4.  The cyclathon on 13th September will be done by Isaac's Auntie and Uncle.

5.  A fundraising night out to be organised for next summer time.

6.  A cinema night at the Hannah Maclure Centre in Abertay in 2010. -
will happen in the Autumn Winter of 2010/2011

7.  A candle party in 2010. -
raised £110 - thanks to all who came along

10.  Lights of Love in December. - a beautiful event / service in Stirling where we all remembered our Children xx

11.  One of our members plan to lose 17 pounds

13.  Challenge Scotland Walk in Holyrood Park on Sunday 7th June 2010.

14.   Support for the Baby and Childrens Memorial Services in Dundee and Perth

15.  Wilma (Reese's Mummy) and friends are walking the West Highland Way w/c 08/06/2010

16.  Gavin - Cerys and Isla's Daddy is doing a Triathlon in August 2010

17.  3rd Annual Walk 12th September 2010 - Camperdown House - Dundee Rail Bridge and back......

We were overwhelmed with the level of support we have raised since August 2008, we have raised over £8k.  50% of this money went to the Why 17? Campaign and 50% to the furnishing of the Tulip Suite at Ninewells (now complete).

We wil continue to support the Research campaign Why 17? and on-going support for the Tayside Area with the provision of memory boxes and items for the memory boxes, furnishings, baby items, mum's toiletries etc for the Tulip Suite.  We will also be funding items for the NeoNatal Ward.

Please give as you feel appropriate and know your donations are going to a very worthy cause.
