This is our fundraising page for Petals, in memory of our 4 Coaker babies, raising money to support other bereaved parents so that they can access specialist counselling support. 

Every year now, we try and do a new event or challenge as a fundraiser. 2023 is about walking! Sharon hiked up Scafell Pike (in the wind and rain) in August - the highest mountain in England. Then joining the Petals Team to trek 16 bridges across the Thames in London covering 25k - which also happens to be on Esmé’s special date. All this walking is much harder than it may seem to be on your feet walking hour after hour! Come join me and keep me company? Or just donate! 

Background info:

Losing a baby is very isolating. We don’t just say this. We KNOW this. Multiple (and late) baby loss, is even more isolating. Even after saying goodbye to 4 babies, people still often say nothing, and this needs to change. Talking about these much wanted and loved babies will not upset us– but it is upsetting when the biggest life changing experiences of our lives are not acknowledged.

PETALS is THE specialist counselling charity working with parents experiencing pregnancy and baby loss.  They can support people through their trauma and grief, like no one else can, and sessions are completely FREE thanks to fundraising. If the money we raise, helps other parents feel a little less isolated, and a little more supported by talking with Petals, then we've achieved something positive out of the sadness and heartache that we’ve been through.   Alongside Petals we want to raise awareness and teach people about the intricacies of each unique situation so that people can respond better with compassion and better understanding. 

We will continue to support Petals because parents really need this specialist psychological support. Baby loss needs to be talked about and better understood. These are life changing experiences to be shared. We're really happy for you to ask us anything about our babies, or to ask Sharon about what she sees and hears from other parents, as she works for the charity. Sharon would also love to be able to talk to your organisation about creating partnerships that support employees at work, so please get in touch if you can help, or have a contact. 

Petals will really appreciate all the money they receive, and it all goes back to parents who need it. The vision is that everyone should be able to access the specialist counselling when they need it. 

Each counselling session costs £80,  and we know what a difference that makes to people. What can you give? Every contribution adds up to that £80, and that's another session where parents can feel really understood, really listened to, and have the headspace needed to work through this taboo subject (though it shouldn't be), of baby loss.

Sharon's London to Brighton 2022 55-mile cycle raised almost £1000 - amazing, thank you!

Matt’s 10k every day in July 2020 raised nearly £2000! ThankYOU! 

The quiz (2019) raised over £1000, thank you! 

There have been 2 half marathon fundraisers (2021) and (2019). Sharon smashed her running goal of a Sub 2 Hour Half Marathon (2019), not just once (1.59!) but twice (1.54!), with another (1.58) in 2020, (2.00) in 2021 and (1.59) in 2022. Not signed up for 2023 as there’s no chance of a sub 2 anymore!! 

Matt completed his marathon on 31.12.19 - an amazing achievement after the year he had with his health following sepsis. The challenges keep being thrown at us!
