Story

05/04.2011.

Hi folks, I have been asked to re-open our Maggie’s Hike fundraising page as few people would like to make a donation to Maggie’s as a thank you for all the help that Maggie’s has given to Piia.

I didn’t want to change the page too much as I’d like to leave it as a testament to Piia’s achievement in doing the hike and being a superb fundraiser for Maggie’s.

There are so many of us who love her, and miss her. She is irreplaceable. Piia will be with us in our hearts, always. XXX

Hello and thank you for helping Team Piia raise funds for Maggie's Centres across the country: On Friday 18th September 2009 we will be taking part in the Maggie's Night Hike. 20 miles through the night, starting at City Hall, Queen’s Walk and finishing back there at sunrise.

We want to raise money for Maggie's as a thank you for all the help and support they are giving to Piia whilst she is undergoing treatment for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Read Piia's blog to find out more. Ofcourse we also want to help Maggie's provide the same brilliant facilities to everyone who is living with cancer.

'A Maggie’s Centre is a place to turn to for help with any of the problems, small or large, associated with cancer. Under one roof you can access help with information, benefits advice, psychological support both individually and in groups, courses and stress reducing strategies. You don’t have to make an appointment, or be referred and everything we offer is free of charge. It is there for anybody who feels the need for help, which includes those who love and look after someone with cancer, who often feel as frightened and vulnerable as those who actually have the disease.

A Maggie’s Centre will be many things to many people. It is there for anybody to use in the way they want to. There isn’t a one size fits all recipe for how you live with cancer. Everybody needs to find their own way. The job of the professionals at Maggie’s is to listen to you, to help you find out what you want and give you the tools to help yourself.'

The Maggie's Centre London is up for the Stirling prize this year and hopefully you will be able to see Piia being interviewed by Kevin McCloud!

We are aiming to raise £1200.00 in sponsorship for our night hike. Whatever donation you are able to give, we very much appreciate it.

On behalf of Team Piia, and Maggie's,

Thank you!
