The Giant Puppet Project is a local children’s community arts project and is the largest of its kind in . Now in its Fifth year, it provides a creative platform for disadvantaged children to foster and promote self expression and confidence through art. In the past, The Project has worked with number of local orphanages, day care centres and street kid organisations such as the Green Gecko Project, Friends International and The Landmine Museum. Every puppet too is chosen for its unique educational, cultural or environmental theme such as road safety, endangered species, hygiene, local cultural appreciation and environmental awareness.

The children flourish in the workshops under the expert tutelage of Master Puppet maker and Teacher Jig Cochrane and other artists and their self-worth and enthusiasm grows until it bursts out onto the streets in a dramatic parade through the streets of .  In the ancient style of Chinese dragon puppets, each organization proudly carries and exhibits their creation; the children are applauded and cheered for the duration of the parade by an enormous and annually growing crowd of onlookers from the local communities as well as host of international tourists. Last year, over 600 children participated in this event and we are looking forward to making 2011 project bigger and better.......
