We fund research into prostate cancer to create better outcomes for patients.

Story

Welcome to our Justgiving web-page and thank you for taking the time to visit.  Please feel free to donate as generously as you can as every penny counts.

Our adventure is a true test of grit, determination and tolerance (of the landscape, weather and each other!) to undertake the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge which is a 25 mile trek to be completed in under 12 hours in the Yorkshire Dales and takes in the 3 peaks of Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent.  We have overcome our first hurdle which was the local Yorkshire language barrier and we are now actively in training, and despite blisters, dodgy knees, bad backs, aching musles and middle-age couch slothfulness we remain in good spirits.

Over the course of a few weeks and through a network of phone calls, emails and face to face discussions we have assembled together an ordinary bunch of blokes some good, some bad, some ugly (some very ugly), some tall, some short, some fat, some thin, some are wonders of nature and some are freaks of nature.

In fact we are all so very different that the only thing that we have in common is a burning desire to get our (mostly new) boots muddy and do some good for ourselves, each other and others that we don't even know.

Every penny we raise will go towards researching Prostate Cancer and help victims of this terrible disease both current and future.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.  Your details are safe with JustGiving and they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.  Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to Prostate Cancer Research Centre and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.  So it’s the most efficient way to donate as we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

What your donation will provide

  • £1000 will keep one researcher equipped with chemicals and disposable equipment for one month
  • £500 will buy a DNA sequencing kit
  • £250 is the cost of a special kit used to transfer genes into cells
  • £100 pays for 10x 500ml bottle of the medium in which cancer cells are grown in the laboratory
  • £50 buys a pack of 400 50ml polypropylene tubes
  • £25 buys a box of 60 syringes
  • £10 will pay for a month’s supply of pipettes

You can see that every donation will make a big difference to a small charity like Prostate Cancer Research so please help them to carry on searching for a cure to prostate cancer.

We hope to update this page regularly over the coming weeks so please don't be a stranger and you have our fullest permission to pass this forward.

Love and best wishes to you all
