We are holding a 3 peaks challenge on the weekend of Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th June which will see 16 of us climbing Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis in 24 hours!!  A feat not for the faint hearted.  We are doing this in memory of our dear colleague Ray Parker who lost his life prematurely in 2009. 

Ray was one of the few men that lit up a room when he walked in - he was a much loved and lively character and a long standing and loyal employee of United Biscuits.  In fact, Ray's career spanned an amazing 33 years - longer than some of us have been alive!  Ray's enthusiasm for life was enviable and his drive and determination truly admirable.  He will be greatly missed by each and everyone of us and we will always remember him in our hearts.

Our proceeds are being donated to Lifeblood The Thrombosis charity.  Thrombosis has been - and remains - a major cause of death in the UK but astonishingly, this fact is not widely known.  Most people have little or no understanding of Thrombosis, and how it can be prevented.  A staggering 30,000 people lose their lives to Thrombosis every year, most people are older but anyone can suffer from this disease, occasionally even children and babies. 

National Thrombosis Week runs 1st - 5th June and as well as our 3 Peaks challenge we will be holding a Cake sale and Jeans Day at work.  Our fundraising target is £6,000 and all funds raised will go towards research to improve patient care through improved prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolic disease.
