Story
24/09/2010:
Hi everyone,
Well we successfully completed the challenge in 24 hours . . . and 45 minutes!
Thank you to all those that have donated - but please encourage others to donate as little or as much as they can - we really want to bring in as money for the cause as possible!
Pictures will be, and are up on facebook :)
Again, thank you all for your support and please keep it coming!
Thank You :)
August 2010:
Please help a small but elite and determined team of friends raise money and awareness for a most worthwhile cause and charity.
In June 2009, Mark Richard Thomas, a husband, father and friend to many was diagnosed with a Grade IV Malignant Brain tumour; Glioblastoma Multiforme. Having undergone radio, chemotherapy, and four brain surgeries he passed away only 6 months later on the 14th December 2009.
In his short but action-packed 49 year life Mark served in the Falkland’s with the parachute regiment, was deployed in several other war zones as an officer in the Royal Engineers, received an MBE from the queen and then became a senior construction project manager for Pell Frischman. He possessed many great qualities and enjoyed an active lifestyle. Just some of the pursuits he loved included skiing, walking, biking, wakeboarding, climbing and would refuse to take an elevator if there was the option of taking the stairs! His motto was 'Live life to the full, you can rest when you die.' A motto to which he certainly lived up to!
In his memory, we will be attempting the Three Peaks Challenge (i.e. conquer Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in less than 24 hours!) on the 20th of September as we feel this will be a fitting tribute to a great man.
The charity we have chosen to support is Brain Tumour UK which carries out essential and cutting edge research as well as providing invaluable support for hundreds of thousands of families who have been affected by such a cruel disease.
