Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Well we did it!! We actually managed to keep at least 2 windsurfers out there at all times from 5.37am until 8.37pm!! 15 hours...

Damian and Nick sailed for 10 hours each! An incredible effort. Helen managed a fantastic 6.5 hours too!! We had over 30 people out on the water windsurfing over the course of the day... completing a total of 89 hours of windsurfing between us...

As Sunset approached we had a countdown from 5 minutes before and the remaining 10 or so windsurfers on the water sailed into the beach for the last time!! Congratulations to everyone who took part and raised so much money.

If you'd still like to donate, then please feel free.

Cheers,

Tim

Through our jobs as Chief Instructor and Centre Principal at Datchet Watesports, we are helping to organise and take part in a 10-person team effort to windsurf from Sunrise to Sunset on Sunday 2nd May 2010 as part of the national W4CR event. Many other of our members and regular windsurfers will be joining the team and many will be setting themselves personal challenges such as completing a number of crossings of the reservoir, or sailing non-stop for a record amount of time, all for a fantastic cause.

Please sponsor our team of windsurfers! At least one person from the team will be windsurfing at any time during the hours from Sunrise to Sunset. Thats about 5.30am till 8.30pm - about 15 hours!!!

We are also setting ourselves the challenge of completing a certain number of 'dry' tacks or gybes (turning the board around - it is well known that few windsurfers can do this well!). That means people can also sponsor us "by the tack/gybe". As a guide i think that around 100 'dry' tacks/gybes by an individual would be pretty good going!!When we started to spread the word about this event we were surprised and saddened at how many of our windsurfers had either personal experience of the horrors of cancer or had friends or relatives who've been affected. So, please do donate to this very worthwhile cause. If you are in the area, come along and support us. The centre has great catering and bar facilities and it should be a fantastic day of action on the water.
