Story
Being a finely tuned athlete at the peak of my physical fitness, I have decided to cycle a whopping 150 miles over a minuscule 3 days in aid of Shanty Theatre Company's latest production, "A Rat's Tale". For those of you who don't know me, I'm a 6ft 7" muscular cycling machine. For those of you who do, I just hope it's downhill. I'm being joined on this cycling trip of fortitude by Harry, my co-artistic director at Shanty, and three foolhardy volunteers, Jess, Bronya and Jack. I am of course making this trip easier for myself by completing it on a 1972 Record du Monde Peugeot bicycle. It can't be that hard, right?
Shanty Theatre is a not-for-profit organisation that makes theatre accessible to rural communities. They perform in theatres, residential homes, schools, pubs and on beaches. This year they’re taking their production of “A Rat’s Tale”, a ukulele comedy about the Black Death, to the Marine Theatre, Lyme Regis, the Old Town Hall in Weymouth and on the road.
