Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am raising money for a charity that is very close to my heart. Some of you may know that my mother was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 1987. She was then 51 years of age and a very active woman - busy raising 4 children and running a part time farm with my Dad. None of us had ever heard of MS and it came as a complete shock. Over the years, the disease has slowly reduced her ability to live an independant life - first of all came the walking stick, then she progressed to using 2 crutches, then onwards to a walking frame. It was with great difficulty, a lot of soul searching and lots of tears that she eventually succumbed to having to use a wheelchair. My father is her primary carer and he depends a lot on the MS society for emotional as well as financial help and back up.
So I decided to run my first 10 km run on 31st May 2010 and I am raising money for the MS Society charity. My mother has always told me that "my health is my wealth" and it is so true. So please please please donate whatever you can afford for this great cause so that they can continue to research this disease and provide help and assistance to people like my parents who are affected by this disease.
