Thanks for visiting our fundraising page for the Tom Baker and Professor Gribben Hodgkin's Lymphoma research project.

Tom suffered Hodgkin's and chemotherapy at the beginning of last year. We will therefore run the London marathon in order to raise money for a research doctorate at St Barts hospital. The research specifically focuses on the treatment of Hodgkin's Lymphoma through the use of 'immunotherapy', a potentially groundbreaking method of cancer treatment that could herald an end to chemo and radiotherapy. It employs the body's own immune system to fight the cancer and could be used in all types of cancer. Much progress has been made in the field but this research focuses on finding the final key to unlock the defences that Hodgkin's has against the immune system.

Tom completed some extreme rehabilitation last summer by cycling across the Alps. This time, as a motivation to raise the money required to continue this valuable research post, Tom (with the hole in his heart which was clearly hampering his efforts now fixed) and Rich (no such excuses) are putting in the long and lonely training miles required to compete in the marathon.

 

Whilst most of you will know that we will both be doing the training and the race with a little smile on our faces and relishing pushing ourselves to the limits, we hope this provides a great opportunity for you to donate some money directly to a project which will have some meaning for all of you.
