Story

WHAT I'M DOING:

I'll be cycling the Coast to Coast route over three days from 17-19 Sept along with some colleagues from Centrica. Centrica are also helping to support the event. It's around140 miles from Whitehaven to Sunderland. I'm getting back into cycling after a 15 year break and am mostly thinking about the impact of the saddle on my behind ! It's a good motiviation to get fit as there will be some steep climbs and it is also good to support a cause that is local to where I work and where the donations received will make a real difference to people who have limited mobility.... and that makes me feel especially lucky to be able to take part in this event.

WHY I'M DOING IT:

I'm raising money for a small local charity - the Windsor Voluntary Car Service.  Their mission is to provide an attentive and caring transport service for residents in Windsor whose limited mobility precludes them from using public transport or taxis. You can read more about them at http://www.wvcs.co.uk/

Your donations will not be used to cover the cost of the event itself but all go to the charity. As WVCS is such a small charity with limited administrational capabilities, the Berkshire Community Foundation has offered to collect the fundraising on their behalf, and ensure that the money reaches WVCS after all is collected.  Their details are:

DONATING ON JUST GIVING:

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you for your support.

About the charity
