Story
On 6 October 2010, our friend and colleague Trevor Baker died suddenly. This loss is a shock for all of us as he was only 61 years old. Despite living with diabetes, and the blindness it induced in his twenties, Trevor lived such a full and active life that he became an inspiration to many people. In his long career at Spelthorne Borough Council he showed what could be achieved with a vision for the future and a determination to succeed. He was passionate about his work with young people in the Woodcraft Folk and devoted much of his time to providing opportunities for young people of different cultures to come together and learn about each other. His positive outlook on life and irrepressible sense of humour meant that he was loved by many people who now feel empty without him. In memory of Trevor his family, wife Shirley, daughter Lorna and son in law Jason, have asked that donations be made to the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. With a number of guide dogs over the years Trevor was able to live and work independently and achieved many great things. He is pictured here with his last guide dog Wispa. Thank you for your generosity.
