Story
What am I doing?
I am delighted to announce both Sue and I have been chosen to occupy the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square, London – a space normally reserved for statues of Generals and Kings. Now my hour has finished please continue to donate to the charity - HELP for HEROES - in support of Sue's hour.
We are part of Anthony Gormley’s Living Art Project entitled One and Other. Every hour, 24 hours a day for 100 days between July 6th and October 14th, a different person will make the plinth their own - as a representation of humanity as a whole.
My own 60 minutes were from 1a.m – 2a.m on Monday 17th August, and I can’t tell you how exhilerated I felt taking part in this historic event. Sue was on the plinth 10a.m - 11a.m on Tuesday 15th September. Her 60 minutes aloft was spent reading out light-hearted poetry, prose and jokes on my chosen subject: The Wit and Wisdom of Women. She likes to think of it as a Girl's Night Out, thirty feet up in the air! I used my hour to lead community singing, for recitals and to read out dedications. I was asking for donations of at least £10 for these – with all the money going to Help for Heroes. Sue would really welcome suggestions on what to include, and will be delighted to read dedications to family and friends. Anything incorporated will become part of a national archive - so together, we have the opportunity to leave behind a footprint of fun for future generations. Sue would also welcome donations on this page to HELP for HEROES in exchange for dedications.
The event is being shown live on the event website and on the Sky website. There will be a weekly programme on SkyArts in which highlights from the week will be broadcast, and the organisers expect that there will be a great deal of press attention for the project all round the world.
