This year I’m going to complete something so special to me, that I’m terrified, terrified because its going to push me in a way I've never known before. My name is Tricia Grier and I am 33yrs old, and I need your help please!!!

I’ve written this page to help document my journey, both emotionally, and physically, toward reaching my goal of a ten day trek through Nepal and the Himalayas. This trip is a charity event whereby I m going to raise money for “The Institute of Cancer Research” I have to raise a minimum of four thousand pounds in order to qualify.  Now they’ll be time’s throughout this journey, that I’ll come close to collapse I’m sure, especially in the end stages, so I know I have to stay strong, and constantly remind myself of the great thing that I’m doing

Now for those of you that know me, I’m sure you might be wondering why a girl like me, who doesn't mind a drink or two, and in the past has had a tendency to scoff anything that isn’t nailed to the ground, feels compelled to hike through the Himalayas, well, this is mainly for the purpose of raising money for charity, there is a secondary reason too.  I very recently lost a very special friend to a tragic accident, she was just 27yrs old, full of life, and quite possibly one of the most motivated inspirational people I knew. Her death has changed my life, by forcing me to assess my own mortality, and shaming me into admitting that I have done very little so far with the life that I’ve been blessed with. That’s about to change, because from now on, everything I do, will have a meaning, a  reason, and be something I can be proud of, and the thought of being able to raise money in aid of researching  this heartbreaking disease, that destroys, and affects so many lives, mine included, is motivation enough for me to work my arse off, and give something back. Now I know that money is tight for many people, but please find it in your heart to give whatever you can spare, because maybe one day, one of us might need this cure.
