Thank you for taking the time to read about why we are raising money for this cause. On November 16th 2011 our lives changed forever when our dad was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. We didn't know much about the disease or did we know the prognosis for our Dad. My dad and the family endured a rollercoaster of emotions when we were given hopes and then having them dashed every time. As we now know Pancreatic Cancer is known as the 'silent killer' and this is because when the sufferer realises they have it, it is usually too advanced, inoperatable or secondary cancer has begun... in our dad's case all 3. Dad was so brave throughout and remained strong until the end. Dad passed away with the whole family around him on the 12th December 2011. As you can see we had less than a month from diagnosis to Dad passing away. Many of you may have seen the the statistics on the news about break through developments for cancer survival... Pancreatic cancer survival remains very low. Myself, Matthew, Daniel, Ruth, Peter (son in law) and even our lovely mum have decided that we are going to have the Pancreatic Cancer Ribbon tattoo'd on us (some will be individualised) to raise some money to help make some developments to help beat this cancer and raise some awareness. Just an update we had our Pancreatic Cancer Ribbons as promised on the 4th February, no one backed out!! Since we began this page we have been really overwhelmed by the response we have had as a family to our Father/Husband/Father in Law's battle with this cancer. My mum receives letters and cards on a weekly basis and this has provided us all with comfort during this time. What has overwhemled us more is the generous donations we have had on this page. We hear stories which touch our heart and one recently was a 29 year old lady who lost her battles with this disease. We will continue to raise awareness and funds in memory of Roger and of all other families affected. Our next event is bag packing at Sainburys on the 4th April, we hope to see everyone there!!!
