Story

Thank you for everyone’s generous support! We surpassed our original target within a week & continue to support refugees & our long term beneficiaries where we can!

THANK YOU - Over 99% of all funds raised in UK go directly to our work in Romania.

The long term impact on the small town of Siret, on the northern most edge of Romania bordering Ukraine, even after this war hopefully ceases & international media have disappeared, will be huge.

The United Nations & Red Cross have now also built camps in fields along the border to help, however the need is so large the local community is still doing what it can to host, shelter & assist refugees arriving often still at personal expense to themselves.

       —————————————-

UPDATE (20.3.2022) We continue to host refugees arriving.

Siret Border has become the main crossing point for refugees fleeing into Romania. 130,000 refugees (France 24) have crossed at this point to date. 470,000 Ukrainian citizens entered into Romania since the war started (Politia de Frontiera) plus foreign nationals fleeing the war from countries such as India, Nigeria, Israel, U.K., Turkey etc

THANK YOU - Over 99% of all funds raised in UK go directly to our work in Romania.

       ——————————————

*UPDATE (10.3.22): we have been providing shelter and assistance to Ukraine's refugees, families, children and their pets the past week, thank you for all your support.

Siret Border Town has become the main crossing point from Ukraine for refugees entering Romania, several thousand are still arriving each day, reports stating numbers have amounted to 80,000 since the war started.

We will continue to support the town, our colleagues and our beneficiaries with the Refugee Crisis in what ever way we can to prevent a Humanitarian Crisis, as snow arrives and temperatures plummet to -8 degrees.

THANK YOU - Over 99% of all funds raised in UK go directly to our work in Romania.

                                     _______________________

We are deeply saddened at the recent events in Ukraine.

Our Trustees in U.K. have been liaising with our partners in Siret, Romania to offer our support as the refugee crisis unfolds in the town & at the Ukrainian Romanian border, just 3km from our project.

There are reports of thousands of women, children & elderly entering Romania who need urgent assistance, food & shelter.

We aim to support our sister, Romanian reg. humanitarian organisation,  Scoala Pentru Viata, partner agencies, local community & our beneficiaries where we can, and provide contingency funds for the projects future needs during this crisis. Any remaining funds will go to the ongoing work with our charity.

Siret is a Romanian border town with a population of approx. 8000. This is a fast moving crisis, and reports are that refugees from Ukraine are rapidly increasing with 5000 refugees crossing on the first day of the conflict & long queues still increasing at the border in Ukraine.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated towards supporting our work and this current crisis.
