We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

First and foremost, The Ultimate 150 Run & Cycle has been created to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK.  The event itself must offer a challenge which pushes us to the peak of our physical and mental limits.  Running 4 marathons and cycling 45 miles, in four days, will undoubteldy test us beyond anything we have ever experienced.

West Highland Way - this famous 96 mile trail undulates across countryside, hills, moors and moutains; while underfoot is a combination of country lanes, forest tracks and rocky, uneven and muddy loch and riverside paths.  With an average of 32 miles to be covered on foot over 3 days, we cannot afford to underestimate the fitness and levels of endurance required to see us through to the end.

Kelvin Walkway - under normal circumstances, this 9 miles walk from Milngavie to the River Clyde, would be a straightforward stroll, however, with 96 miles of running behind us and the bikes waiting up ahead, this will be much more difficult than you might expect.

National Cycle Route 75 - the final stage will see us, and hopefully many more, cycle from the SECC/Hydro on the Clyde, for 45 miles to Almondell Country Park, before descending into Broxburn, where we hope a crowd will be there to cheer us over line.

So who are the crazy Fort William to Broxburn challengers?

Ross Mackey, Donna Mackey, Kevin Andrews, Michael Lynch, Thomas Lynch, Elinor Forgan,Graeme Morrison, Gary Sloan, Kenneth Falconer, Gordon Newlands, David Gowans, Alan Gray, Graham McManus.  We all hugely appreciate your support.

By simply visiting this page, you are helping so much.  Do you know anyone who might want to to join us on the cycle from Glasgow to West Lothian? After 3 gruelling days along the West Highland Way, we will be undoubtedly need support from family, friends and others to motivate us onto those bikes and endure the final 45 mile stretch along National Cycle Route 75.

On a personal note, cancer has affected my family so much over the years and I want to raise us much as I can for CRUK to continue their wonderful research so that future generation can live a life without having to worry about this life destroying disease.

Please join us in the fight against cancer.
