On Sunday the 10th of October we will be competing in an Urban Espionage Event to raise money for the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Charity. The day will consist of challenges both mental and physical, and we're hoping to raise as much as we can for this worthy cause.
Manchester has boasted top quality health services for 180 years. Manchester Royal Infirmary was founded in 1829 in Manchester city centre thanks to charitable donations. Florence Nightingale was one of its many supporters and spoke highly of the hospital proclaiming it to be the best designed in Europe. From the turn of the 20th century progress was rapid and by the beginning of the NHS in 1948 the treatment and care offered by our hospital was second to none.
Manchester’s former children’s hospitals, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and Booth Hall Children’s Hospital were previously located in Pendlebury and Blackley. Both hospitals have recently relocated to the city centre where they now enjoy a state-of-the-art facility.
Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital is now the largest single-site children’s hospital in the UK and provides care for over 135,000 children and young people each year.
