Story

It is the end of day 3 and we have finally managed to find a computer so thought we would update you all on how our challenge is going .

At the moment we are in a little town called aiguillon and so far it has been hard work. It has been eventful with  Nicole falling over ( a record of 22 times in a day) but the route is ‘jolie’ and we have been able to make some jokes along the way!

Katie : Nicole what made you fall over this time? Nicole : I don’t know, Im like nike, I just do it.

Although we are shattered and extremely sore, we are always looking forward to the next day and the surprises it will bring. Will keep you updated if we find another computer.

Thank you all for your generous donations, we could not have done any of this without you!

We make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give'...Winston CHURCHILL

Hi, our names are Nicole Zachariah and Katie Knutson, we are both 17 and are in lower sixth form. We recently won a Venture Challenge Award which has given us the oppurtunity to raise money for a charity that we are very passionate about: Contact a Family. We are going to rollerblade 250 miles (402km) in France from Bordeaux to Toulouse during one week of our Summer holidays. This is both a mental and physical challenge for the two of us ... especially since Nicole has never rollerbladed before!  But, we must follow the motto, "never let the fear of striking out [or falling down] keep you from playing the game [and raising money for a great charity!]."

£5 a month with Gift Aid would enable us to print another 300 free factsheet for parents each year. £10 a month with Gift Aid would enable a disabled child to attend one of our summer playschemes each year. £15 a month would enable ten parents to attend one of our regional workshops each year. At present most of Contact a Family's funding comes from government grants, and from grants from independent trusts and foundations. Because most of this funding is given only for specific projects, just 15% of Contact a Family's income is 'unrestricted' which means they can spend it where they need it most.

We are extremely excited to take on this challenge in the summer and would appreciate any possible donation from you...if you want to know more about us or the challenge please email us at nikki_z64@hotmail.com or knutson.katherine@googlemail.com. We will also be adding photos and videos onto our page soon.
