Story

Well, we made it !

It was just under 77 miles in all (as measured by my husband Gareth's GPS gizmo) and we had fantastic weather with only one damp morning and a lot of blazing sunshine :-)

At the start I was worried that my arthritic ankles and dodgy lower back would cause me trouble but in the end they were fine, it was the hamstring injury at the end of the 2nd day which was literally a pain in the backside! Still, I hobbled on and completed the walk somehow although I would have enjoyed it more if I'd been injury free (and so would have Gareth who had to put up with my slow pace and constant moaning).

For those of you who might be interested, I've pulled a few photos together which you can see here -> http://www.photobox.co.uk/album/204229238

I'd like to say a big thankyou to everyone who sponsored me - I raised more than £400 (plus gift aid) for AYME

thanks

Val

====================================================================================

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Between 21st Sept and 28th Sept my husband, Gareth, and I are walking around the Isle Of Wight for charity.

We are doing this in aid of the Association of Young People with ME (AYME). ME is a debilitating illness for everyone but it is even more tragic for the young.  Some close friends of ours have a daughter, Erin, with ME.  She has been ill for six and a half years, has missed out on most of her teenage years being completely bedbound.  She is hypersensitive to light and sound and is unable to read, write, text or listen to any audio and cannot even have visitors.

AYME helps to raise awareness of ME at government level and works closely with professional and research bodies to progress knowledge of what causes the illness, with an ultimate aim of finding a way of alleviating the symptoms and even finding a cure.

AYME helps to raise funds for research into ME and may be Erin's only hope of being able to live her life, so please dig deep and donate to this worthy cause

You can find out more about AYME at www.ayme.org.uk

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
