Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Our mum died suddenly on 17 May 2012. She developed pneumonia and also a complication called Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome which is quite rare. It affects the lungs ability to pass oxygen into the bloodstream and onto vital organs. The damage was irrepairable and Mum's ventilator had to be switched off. As a family, we wanted to do something in Mum's memory and raise some money for charity. The British Lung Foundation funds research into lung disease and this affects many people. Although Mum's illness was short and very visible, in others lung disease is often not discovered until it is too late to treat. If this money can help research then we feel proud to have done our little bit towards it.
Clatworthy Reservoir was special to Mum and her family as their childhood home was there before the area was flooded to make way for the reservoir. It is a very peaceful place and the walk is beautiful. The distance is 5 miles and allows anyone with a reasonable fitness to be involved, young and older! The walk is on Sat 21st June 2014 starting at 12 noon. All the family are doing it Liz, Martin, Maria, Caroline, Brian and all our children. If anyone would like to join us on the walk then please message me on facebook. We will be having refreshments at clatworthy village hall as well.
