Ciarans Cause is a non- profit charity to help raise funds to supply schools, sports clubs & community youth groups with defibrillators & free awareness training, so that they have the equipment ready to use in the vital first few minutes & every young person has a fighting chance.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm lucky enough to represent Chester FC as the Media Officer, it has it's highs, and it has it's lows, one of the lows being last year, when we learned of the tragic passing of a 7 year old boy and Chester fan, Ciaran Geddes, who tragically lost his life when going out to play the game he loved - football.

I have decided to do my own bit to raise funds for the charity set up in Ciaran's memory, Ciaran's Cause, by jumping off the tallest structure in Las Vegas, the Stratosphere Tower, standing at over 1100 feet (yikes!), which is twice the height of Blackpool Tower and also higher than the Eiffel Tower!

There is a Tower theme here too, as this year, to commemorate the first anniversary, Ciaran's dad Steff is doing a Tower to Tower Challenge, cycling from the Eiffel Tower to Blackpool Tower in April, and you can can sponsor him here - http://www.justgiving.com/steffan-latham

Ciaran, who had also appeared as mascot for Chester FC, suffered a cardiac arrest when going out to play football with his friends and despite the best efforts of those around him to give him first aid via CPR, he sadly passed away.

Had a defibrillator been present or available, Ciaran may still have been with us today, cheering his team on and playing the game he adored. His sad passing touched everybody at Chester FC, and fans, players, and officials came together with Ciaran's family to say goodbye in April 2012 in what was a very, very emotional day followed up by a charity match involving comedians John Bishop & Jason Manford which helped raise nearly £10,000.

I'm really hoping that you can find it in these difficult times to help sponsor / donate, and help to raise funds for Ciaran's Cause to purchase more defibrillators to help prevent cases such as Ciaran's, happening so often.

My thanks in advance go to everyone that donates or sponsors me, I must be mad, in fact I know I'm mad, but this is my way of doing my bit for Ciaran in May 2013.
