Virgin London Marathon 2011 · 17 April 2011 ·

We’re the UK’s leading charity for Crohn’s and Colitis. Right now, over 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. We’re working to improve diagnosis and treatment; to fund research and to raise awareness.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the 2011 London Marathon in aid of Crohn's and Colitis UK. My son Luke was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in May 2009 aged 8. Crohn's Disease is a disease in which the body attacks its own digestive tract lining basically from mouth to bottom. For Luke some of the symptoms were tiredness, weakness, loss of appetite, drastic weight loss, tummy aches and very frequent toilet visits. After the inintial treatment of 8 weeks on a special liquid diet (modulen) food was reintroduced slowly and he began to put on weight and feel better. Unfortunately this did not last and now after several courses of steroids he is doing well taking an immunosuppressant tablet.

I recieved much support in the early days from Crohn's and Colitis UK in the form of the website, literature and phone calls with other parents of children with Crohn's or Colitis. I am sure that in the future I or he will need to lean on them again because Luke will have Crohn's Disease for life. There is no cure but loads of good work is being done and support available . While I have the energy and Luke is well I would like to raise money for this Charity

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
