Hi, I'm Verity, a 2020 Graduate from the University of Lincoln. Due to COVID, my expedition has been delayed to 2023. Next June I will be travelling to Fiji to take part in a 16 day volunteering project based rural village schools with young Fijians on a Youth Empowerment project. 

Why Think Pacific? In rural Fiji 75% of families live below the poverty line and only 50% of the rural population have access to safe drinking water and proper sanitation. Schools are in poor condition and lack basic materials, many children drop out of education early, and only 5% of children receive an early year’s education. Partnered with the Fijian ministry, Think Pacific have been running volunteering projects since 2009 to deliver aid to struggling Fijian schools and communities. So far Think Pacific have improved sports participation by 600% and in the summer of 2016 their work contributed to a 40% increase in literacy rates. Over 100,000 children are supported each year through these projects. 

Why Donate? I am really passionate about taking part in this project as it will have such a massive impact on the lives of rural Fijian families, increasing living standards and creating opportunities for children through improved education. On project, I will be involved in running interactive activities for young people, teaching life skills, and holding extra-curricular creative activities and sports events. Having received such an amazing education myself, I wanted to give back and help those who don’t have the same opportunities I have had. I will be self-funding my flights but I am now fundraising directly for the Think Pacific charity which will enable me to take part in the project. A large amount of the money I raise will go towards ensuring the sustainable long term development of Fijian communities through providing teacher training, school resources and sports equipment.

Think Pacific and I would be extremely grateful if as many people as possible could support this amazing cause and my fundraising in 2023. This is a huge challenge for me, which I hope is appreciated and people can get behind my fundraising!

Selling hand painted Christmas baubles, cards and commissions with 100% going to Think Pacific

Taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge in early 2023
