We support victims of domestic violence to improve their safety and well being

Story

Chris Cartwright & Verity Mitchell are both Senior Lecturers for Mental Health Nursing.

By coincidence, they both leave Staffordshire University for pastures new at the end of October 2021.

Instead of making collections for leaving presents, Chris and Verity invite you to donate a pound to West Mercia Women's Aid.

Together, they have a combined service of nearly 30 years with Staffordshire University.

Chris and Verity both worked in clinical practice as Community Mental Health Nurses and  understand the challenges faced by people living in life threatening circumstances. The extra strain of a global pandemic means the need to provide refuge and support has never been greater.

West Mercia Women's Aid provides a range of services for residents of Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Staffordshire fleeing abuse, including: Specialist domestic abuse 24/7 helpline; Refuges for women and children in safe accommodation; Advice and support for male victims; Support programmes for children and young people impacted upon by domestic abuse.
